American climbers Alex Honnold and Tommy Caldwell have made the first ascent of the 5km long Fitzroy Traverse in Patagonia, Argentina.
The duo traversed the following peaks in their mega link-up: Aguja Guillaumet, Aguja Mermoz, Cerro Fitz Roy (3405m), Aguja Poincenot, Aguja Rafael Juárez, Aguja Saint-Exúpery and Aguja de l'S.
This route was Honnold's first route in Patagonia. The pair got a break in the weather in what has been a so far disappointing season. Despite good weather for their climb, Honnold and Caldwell were battling difficult conditions with icy rock after the very cold and snowy season so far.
