Avalanche hazard forecasts from the Scottish Avalanche Information Service (SAIS) kick off for the 2014-15 season on Thursday 11 December, practically on cue with the first substantial snow of the winter.
Daily reports from the five main SAIS areas (Glen Coe, Lochaber, Creag Meagaidh, Southern Cairngorms & Northern Cairngorms) will be posted until April.
The Torridon service, which commences a little later on the 24 Dec 2014, will cover only holiday periods and weekends throughout the season.
Back in November the service launched an avalanche advice leaflet to help people plan their winter days safely (see news here).
