Helen Mort Essay: Cornerstones

© Dark Sky Media

Poet, writer and climber Helen Mort is currently featured in a BBC Radio 3 series Cornerstones, in which writers describe how places that hold importance to them are shaped by their geology. Helen wrote an essay about the symbol of the Peak District National Park - the Millstone - and reflects on their creation, the properties of gritstone and its popularity as a rock type for us as climbers.
