The Mountaineering Council of Scotland (MCofS) has added a one-stop blogs page to its website, making it easy to search scores of mountain-related blogs from guides, outdoor organisations and even ordinary members of the hillwalking and climbing public.
MCofS Membership Development Officer, Mike Dales, said:
'The MCofS Blogs page is a great way of carrying out hill-related research, whether it be for planning a trip or just looking up a place name for more general interest. There are some great blogs on our Blogs page and the search facility makes it really easy to find the specific information you're looking for amongst all these blogs.'
As well as listing a wide selection of hillwalking and climbing blogs, the page also contains links to a range of other blogs that may be of interest to walkers, climbers and skiers including Clubs, Climbing Walls, Outdoor Organisations, Retailers, Outdoor Education, Tourism, Furth of Scotland (ie. the rest of the UK) and Overseas.
They've added links to several relevant webcams dotted around Scotland too.
And if you're pondering the state of snow and ice, a (C) symbol marks the blogs containing winter conditions reports.
Click on the Blogs icon in the bottom right hand corner of any MCofS webpage (under the "Connect with us" heading) to be taken to the blogs page. The 135 blogs listed to date can be searched for the names of hills, climbs or people via the Google Custom Search box near the top of the page.
The list of blogs on this page is never going to be complete, says Mike Dales, so if anyone wishes to write with suggestions for others to include then please Email him.
