Last weekend (3rd/4th of May 2014) saw the second round of the IFSC Bouldering World Cup held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Top 6 Results:
Competing for Great Britain was Shauna Coxsey, myself (Mina Leslie-Wujastyk), Jennifer Wood and Orrin Cowley.
3rd: Shauna Coxsey
14th: Mina Leslie-Wujastyk
22th: Orrin Cowley
27th: Jennifer Wood
This was an eventful competition for the GB team. Firstly we had Orrin and Jen both making their respective debuts onto the senior World Cup circuit and both doing extremely well to place in the top 30.
It was also heart-breakingly close for Shauna who was set to win before an unintentional foot dab meant she was called off by the judge, an attempt that cost her the gold and put her in third place. There was only one attempt difference between 1st place and both 2nd and 3rd place in womens (2nd/3rd was decided on count-back), a close competition!
In the 2014 World Cups so far, Shauna is ranked joint 3rd, I am in 10th, Orrin is in joint 30th place and Jen in 39th.
