These now go all the way around the block apparently. This was taken last night (08/06/09) but as of today they are now on all three climbable faces of the Gellet Block.

Yup. It sucks. I was going to do Red Flag as my first VS lead next time I was down there, and now there are flippin portaledges on either side of it!

Does anyone know who put these up, whether there was any consultation or even any evidence to suggest that they are a requirement to the bat population survival (if they are indeed bat boxes)?

I've emailed the Scottish Bat Trust to find out. They are looking into it.

These boxes look to be strategically positioned to prevent climbing.
