I'm guessing this hut is no more - it was below the pathway down to the Gornergletscher from Rotenboden station

Hi Brian. Definitely good memories.
OK, the story: You see before you a glaciologist (Dave) and his "humble" assistant - 2 weeks in Zermatt, staying in the powerstation tunnels, living, mostly, on dried food and steadily becoming more and more ripe. This is the the evening before the beginning of a trip down the Gornergletscher, sampling surface water (where we could find it). Dave was quite sick having spent the night about 6 inches from the very mouldy ceiling and I pranged a shoulder falling on a turn on ice. But we got our samples.
Can't find the hut on Google Earth, so I think it's gone. I believe it belonged to some Swiss University
