not sure if this is the best way to upload a panorama, any tips?

It's very small, Colin, only 69kb. To do justice to this photo the file size needs to be near the max. If you've got Photoshop go to File/Save for Web and Devices. If it says the file is too big, go to Image Size under Image menu and resize smaller. Once you're in 'Web and Devices' it's easy to manipulate size of image and file and you can have a preview of the image in your browser.
