Hi Carless. Out of interest, how did you manage to climb there without getting chucked out? My lass and I went the other day with the intention of doing 'The Hole' (were you with Mick on this one?), it was in flood though, so we couldn't do it. Anyway, there were the inevitable no-climbing signs all over the place and it was pretty well flooded with tourist. Because of the high water, there were no tours, so no staff around, but when conditions are good, I'd imagine the tours will be taking place. Likewise during low season, I'd imagine it'd always be in flood. Was it just a lot quieter back when you visited? Cheers,

Hi Carless. OK, just realised that 'The Hole' isn't a Mick Fowler route after all :)

It was 20+ years ago so things might well have changed.
I don't remember any problems with access: we even got a lift from the boatman to the base of the route. Tho' after backing off we had to wait a while for Mick to come and get us with the boat as the boatman had gone.
For the VS we abbed in from the road & climbed out
