This was our annual [third] ascent of Swastika, 1965,66,67. We actually climbed it three more times in the 1970's. Never tiring of this superb climb. The photo shows Ken applying what we nicknamed "The Etive Crouch", a technique we found worked well!

Good to 300ft of red and white or is that early perlon?

The ropes are early 9mm Perlon. On some of my earlier photo's the ropes were 300ft half Red/ White hawser laid, which as you know were very popular around that time.

Just reviewed one of my other photo's, "Ken Jackson on pitch 4, Swastika. 1966." The ropes on the ledge are a tangle of Perlon and red/white hawser. We were climbing as a party of three that day, Ken Holmes in the middle...looks as though I'm attached to the Perlon [the new good stuff], Ken's on the old tat!
