Is the sea frozen up in the background or is there just ice on top of it?

the sea was not frozen, altough there was a lot of ice
around the edges, I cant remeber exactly but there was a lot of wind blown water which had frozen on a the beach whichis very ridged and rocky, I think this is what you can see in the immeadiate back ground. Pete
