The first Peak guidebook to feature such familiar crags as Curbar, Froggatt, Burbage and Gardoms.
The Unconquerables had just been climbed. But....."they are no easier by their vanquishing"
The guide's publication was almost a one man effort by Eric Byne. The original proofs having been destroyed during an air raid on Birmingham.

45p? that can't be right. 9/- surely?
If I recall the nomenclature correctly - seems rather expensive. That's about 5 pints of beer.
:-)

45p is about 9bob in old money. I do remember being able to go out with a couple of quid in my pocket in the sixties and have a good night at the Coach and Horses in Rochdale.
