That rope brings back nightmares - god those things were awful! I think by 1973 I'd thankfully ditched my 120' Goldline? rope.

Yes they were awful but it had fond memories of how I acquired it back in 1961 from a climbing training session at Sennen. However, I think this photo was the last time I used it as it had a permanent figure of 8 kink in it. It now resides with the Mountain Heritage Trust along with the hawserlay sling with drilled out aircraft nut!

At least it went to a good home - no idea what happened to mine. Probably ended up in a car boot as a potential tow rope.
