The Stubai Aschenbrenner on the right is interesting in having a short handle.

Interesting seeing the Stubai axe. My great uncle did some work with Stubai when, I think he was involved with the BMC technical committee in the 70/80's, and had a very similar axe made with I think a fibre glass shaft. Only 3 were made, so he said, and I have one of them hanging above my desk in the office.

Ye I have the Aschenbrenner on the right with a 55cm shaft circa 1970

The big Grivel axe on the left has 'Roy Brown' engraved into the shaft. A google search revealed Roy Brown as a Snowdonia-based mountaineering instructor active in the 1960s and '70s.
