Coffee beach, Fuerteventura. The group of Mountains in the background are the highest on Fuerteventura and include the highest Pico de la Zarza 807m.

Very atmospheric, Russell. I've only been on Tenerife but this looks much less developed. Are those hills 'fun' or a bit like stomping over the slag heaps of my youth?

Lankyman, can thoroughly recommend a hiking holiday to Fuerteventura.cheap car hire, not developed as much as the other islands although everything you need for a family holiday to. The hills are mostly extinct Volcanos and the landscape very barents and lunar like. The ones I hiked all had very good signed paths and you could easily have done as a family although you would all need decent gear. Loads of info on Internet and as I said can highly recommend the whole island. This beach was just superb and almost deserted due to the 10 mile drive along dirt/gravel untarmacked Road to get there. When you do arrive what a view there is a small hamlet with cafe and toilets but that's it for miles and miles. Superb place.

Should have said, All the summits i climbed including Zarza all had solid rock and solid paths to follow.

Have you seen the promo for Chris Packham's latest BBC series 'Earth'? I reckon he's walking along this very beach.

Will see if I can find it online, don't bother with TV much most of it is rubbish and I'd rather be doing than watching. I'll let you know in comments if it is the same beach or not.

Had a look, but can't find anything. I wouldn't be surprised if this beach was in a nature programme it was a spectacular place and I know that turtles use this beach for egg laying so it is very likely it has been and will be used again in a tv programme.

I can't find the current trailer on YouTube but in the opening episode on iPlayer he's on the beach just about 5 minutes in.
