Picture, btw, was taken by our guide Heinrich Taugwalder, no less. G g grandson of Old Peter, and a lovely guy.
Yes, they were v good days amidst quite bad days, and right at the beginning of my climbing - it all really started happening for us the following year, 1968.

This ancient snapshop is perhaps my favourite picture in my entire collection (taken by Heinrich Taugwalder). This was when climbing really took off for us in 1967 - after a huge loss a whole new life suddenly opened up at the age of 17.
