Really like this. Like the way the big "proper" climbing in the background is blurred out so you can focus on the bouldering! genius.

post production?

Just a touch of post production inspired by the recent digital darkroom article. It's loads better than the original which seemed really flat and busy in comparison.

I imagine the original of this is a wounderful photo. I really hate the photo shop work that been done here though. The picture just looks odd.
I'm not trying to offend though, I just wanted to be honest.

It takes a bit longer to do but maybe a multi-layered blur would work better eg. foreground (inc rock on right) completely in focus, 2nd layer blur the big trees either side of the rock, and the 3rd layer increased blur on the background/mountain.
I personally still think it's a cracking picture as it is though!

I agree that would be better. It uses 2 blurs at the moment but the foreground is probably overdone as suggested. I may get round to doing an improved version and posting the original for comparison.

Great composition, but personally I'd like the boulder to be blurred and the rockface behind in focus. However that may have something to do with the fact that I couldn't get off the ground on the boulder, but had a wonderful day on the Asteroidi Buttress !

I like this - it's got an almost tilt-shift feel, as if it's some sort of weird macro look at a tiny person on a tiny boulder, blown up huge. Cool!
