Another of the Wista 5x4 shots from my first book. This is actually one of the favourites of all my shots, and was very difficult to get. I think I waited at Kinlochewe for about 12 days before the weather was right and there was snow. It then involved a 3000 foot ascent from sealevel to a spur on Beinn Eighe that no one ever visits which is a fantastic viewpoint of the gargantuan Liathach, which is one of the great single mountains in Britain, imho. On this morning the tops Liathach and Beinn Eighe were in cloud, but I decided to go for it, because there was a good forecast. The final 500 feet to the camera position across a steep icy slope in crampons with my extremely heavy plate camera and tripod was quite tricky. I then waited for 45 minutes in the cloud, with the camera all set up, just hoping and praying the mist would lift. Then these HUGE great mountain gradually appeared in front of me. I'm scanning some of the pictures deliberately quite big when they are BIG subjects!
