It's an amazing looking route - but I don't like this effect that lots of people seem to use in photoshop where you artificially sharpen the climber and fade the back ground. I don't know why but it always makes a real photo look fake. It looks like Pete is actually an action man doll, rather than a real person... Is this just me?

Pete is an Action Man! I was also using a 200mm lens on full magnification.

I'm afraid I agree with TobyA, the arete looks too blurry, like the composition though!

Hi Jack - excuse my photographic ignorance please - so is the effect a result of the lens, or do you need to sharpen with photoshop because of the lens? I've asked Jamie Moss about this in his pic here: http://www.ukclimbing.com/images/dbpage.html?id=77403 and that's why I presumed it was a photoshop thing.
Does Pete have "eagle eyes" and what gun does he come with? :-)

The photo has been adjusted in photoshop in several ways, and I have been pretty heavy handed too - however for screen viewing I have found that heavy handed seems to work best. I'll start a thread with exactly what I have done to the image.

The photoshopping makes this picture look much better in my opinion.

Great shot mate, the photoshopping definatley helps capture the atmosphere!
