Walked along it. Its not contigous, you might have to get off and push and there are beach / sand sections/ peat and plenty of gates. You could do it on a CX or 'Gravel' bike but not on a race bike with 25mm tyres and heavy panniers.

It may not be contigous or even contguous but probably more importantly may be - is it continuous, although from the sounds of things it isnt?
Contiguous - connecting without a break, uninterrupted.
There's bits of decent road, unmetalled track, footpath, beach, dune, peaty 4wd trail, field, many gates and stiles, not much I would want to ride a road bike along without plenty of clearance and knobbly bits on the tyres.
We cycled the whole of the west coast of uist a few years back. Seem to remember a few sections of track/machair grassland but was all cyclable on touring bikes with hybrid tyres.
Your never too far from the main road though, so you can always cycle back. It is very flat, but also usually very windy!
We did a few sections of it last year on mountain bikes with the kids. The bits we did were very easy riding, but not really suited for a full-on road bike; hybrid with bigger tyres or CX yes.
