Anyone had experience of forced period off bike? I was off for 6 weeks and have been gradually increasing my rides over past 4 weeks. But my speed remains so slow.
Of course it will. I moved house last Christmas and couldn't ride as much, lost a fair bit but it was a brilliant motivator to get out and train back up and beyond my previous fitness level.

Don't think we realise how fit we are most of the time.

In reply to Escher: Good article that. I dislocated my shoulder 4 months before a 100k MTB marathon in Scotland. Three months doing nothing, then one month to get fit, mainly doing intervals. I felt fitter than before the lay-off.
