I was in Torridon this morning bouldering and was surprised and saddened by the volume of chalk, especially on the obvious Malc's arete and Layback/Dyno link. Layback/Dyno combo (f7A+).

Couldn't physically hold the central crimp (admittedly in warm conditions) on layback/Dyno link. There was a huge amount of chalk all over and around the hold. Maybe half a dozen or more significant tick marks also (the crimps are very obvious without them). I washed it off with water and brushed it all down but the rock was still obviously marked (the friction was significantly better when the hold was pouring with water rather than painted in chalk).

Please can people be more respectful here. Sandstone has phenomenal friction and chalk is barely needed in good conditions. Brushing tick marks off, ideally with water with these volumes of chalk, should be automatic for anyone bouldering anywhere. Ive included a link with some useful information for helping to lessen the impact we all have.
