Thinking of going next May, but don't want to camp.
Does anyone know of accommodation that won't break the bank. Preferably where we could meet other climbers.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks, Gary.
You won't meet other climbers, but the casino hotels can be pretty cheap. I think we stayed at the Suncoast out to the west for a few days. They're all more expensive at the weekend though, so you might want to plan around that.
Loads and loads of hotels and motels in Las Vegas but there isn't anywhere in particular that climbers hang out. We just rocked up and looked around for the best deal. Ended up with 4 of us in a pretty large twin room, 2 kipping on the floor. Can't remember how much (15 years ago) but it was cheap.
We stayed in a motel for 2 or 3 nights, but as soon as there's a big convention, the prices go through the roof. So we moved to the campsite, which was nowhere near as grim as many people make out. Next time we visit we'll go straight for the camp site (which has the extra advantage that it saves a lot of driving).
There are normally OK motel deals from $30 per night (but beware hidden extras like resort charges and tax) a cheaper solution is a month hire near downtown. I've rarely paid more than $45 a night all-in for clean places but the old Best Western on Main St just north of downtown where I've stayed most seems to have closed (after a chain brand change a few years back)... shame as it was good.
Thanks for all the replies.
I've seen some casinos and motels are cheap. Just wondered if there was anywhere in particular used by climbers.
I was there for 10 days or so many years ago, camped then, just prefer not to camp these days.
