My dad has recently donated two old Vango Force Ten tents to my brother, so he can take his kids on bright orange ridge tent retro-camping trips. My brother feels they could do with being proofed, but we suspect that the usual Nikwax proofer isn't the right thing. Is Fabsil what's required here?
Hi Clare
I'm sure I used Grainger's Fabsil in the past on an old Vango Mark 4. Now have one tent I bought in the late 70s minus flysheet which shredded in 1999 at Rieff, and a whole tent from a UKC donator to make a new set. Great old tents!
Good luck to them.
Mike
In reply to Tall Clare: My dad used something white which was painted onto the flysheet, if that sounds like Fabsil? I'd recommend it being painted onto the flysheet so that it gets good coverage, something about the painting it seems to means a lot gets put on.
Our Vango tent lasted for years so the fabric was bleached white by the sun.
