My old TomTom satnav has finally died, so I'm not looking to upgrade. However, I'd quite like something that either works with off-road trails already, or that I can expand easily with the OS maps on an SD card.
I'm not after anything fancy that does all the live traffic stuff or lane management etc, just tells me where to go & where I am!

Buy yerself a iphone 4s or above and stick viewranger on it. That'll do the offroad and the phone mapping app will give you verbal route directions for road trips.
Brill.
I'm quite happy with the phone I have, and don't see any need to pay an extortionate amount for an iPhone. A sat nav, however, is much cheaper, as well as being able to share it between the missus & myself.
