Hi Duckman - can't say I've tried (new) Mantas but Scarpas are generally ok and not too narrow.
(In fact, given my narrow, low volume feet I actually bought a pair of La Sportivas rather than the next size up in the Charmozs.. which is a shame since the Charmozs are probably a better all-round boot for mountaineering.)
