About time someone sorted out the direct start to the Sphinx!

Now there's only the impossible grove at burbage south and hte little project at burbage north to go.

In reply to sloper:
Mad, its impressive that he is still climbing those grades still
sloper 18 Nov 2005
In reply to Graham T: it seems that the problem has a jump start so the traverse of the whole lip from the ground is still to go.

Amazing considering the number of people who have been workign on it and the individual moves aren't that hard (in todays money)
 Andy Farnell 18 Nov 2005
In reply to sloper: So you think 8b isn't hard.... get working the sit-down then

In reply to andy farnell: The actual sit start isn't very hard at all.

The moves along the low arete have ben done (at least in part) by a fair number of people.

The whole thing needs doing.

 Marcus B 21 Nov 2005
In reply to Adam Lincoln:
Odd that he changed his mind from 8c to 8b.
 Adam Lincoln 21 Nov 2005
In reply to Marcus Brewer:

I think he was joking
 earlsdonwhu 21 Nov 2005
In reply to Adam Lincoln: 'V15 or V 16. That wasn't actually too bad' Nice line in understatement!!!!!!!!!
 Ram MkiV 21 Nov 2005
In reply to earlsdonhammer: again, joking
In reply to Adam Lincoln: Shame the video quality is much lower than some of the others on his site. Looks like an indoor wall feature!

In reply to sloper: I see he missed out the sds !!

Has anyone been looking at his training diary on-line?

I know he's had years and years of top level climbing under his belt but he hardly does any. Rich Simpson has been reporting that he does 20-30 hrs a week plus some extra aerobic etc. Ben seems to do a couple of hours every other day or so.

Got to be some form of mutant.

Hats off he's pretty bloody special to still be climbing the level that he is.

I think im right in saying Huffy tried the problem from a sit down start, but fell of the last move a few weeks before Ben did his version. Get back on it i say. Still an impresive one on bens part none the less,
Wes 21 Nov 2005
In reply to sloper: Bloody good on him, i say.
 JimR 21 Nov 2005
In reply to Wes:

looks a piece of piss really!
 Jon Greengrass 22 Nov 2005
In reply to sloper: what or where is the impossible groove?
 Jus 22 Nov 2005
In reply to Jon Greengrass:

Cratcliffe, below Fern Hill.
 robin mueller 22 Nov 2005
In reply to Jus:

Wrong impossible groove! That one's a route. Burbage South edge is the boulder problem.
 Jus 22 Nov 2005
In reply to robin mueller:

Oh right. Didn't read the op post.
