I know that a lot of climbers do kayaking as well, but kayaking is suffering just as much, because of foot and mouth. However there are still one or two venues open, for example St Bees in West Cumbria. I was there on Saturday. It was blue skies, very warm and a huge surf. I was the only paddler to be seen there. I got some very big surfs in, but spent most of my time crapping myself. I could have done with some fellow paddlers there. Has such an apathy set in that we won't use such opportunities. I was very surprised. We could also look at different ways of approaching crags. Perhaps when the swell isn't so big, access could be gained to St Bees Crag by boat or has this been out ruled. It would have been a perfect day for climbing their.
