In reply to Carpe Diem:

Seems he's recently done the first ascent of the North Pillar of Fitzroy with Kevin Thaw. Will be featured at Kendal Film Festival:

In reply to Gordon Stainforth:

Not quite the first ascent - first free ascent. The route was first done solo by Casarotto in 1979 with a mostly free version done in 1984 by Kearney and Knight. Has seen few repeats until the last couple of years though.
In reply to nz Cragrat:

The billing claims it as the 'first free ascent' and then adds 'in ultra minimalist style', so may be this was the first truly free ascent in Alpine style, in one push??

Or straight from the source, plus lots of other Kevin Thaw expedition reports and stuff.
