2 complete sections of textured panneling have been taken down and replaced by flat plywood. 20 or so routes that were quite fun and required some thought have been replaced by standard holds bolted onto flat panel routes.

Don't like the vile bright orange colour either.

Hopefully the interesting panels have just been taken down for cleaning/refurbishment but I fear not.

In reply to PaulW:

10 lines have been replaced as they were worn out, HRT made the panels and I feel they are a welcome addition to the wall.

Flat panel walls always rely on good route setting but force you to think more as you have to do certain sequences instead of using other part of the wall to get around a sequence. They have far more bolt holes so many more routes can be set up a line allowing for a greater range of routes.

The orange brightens up the dingy (sp?) place greatly, its an indoor wall why pretend its outdoors? They have been replaced with resin panels not plywood ones, and have other devlopment plans in the works such as replaceing the traversing wall with flat panel to allow for a greater vareity of routes, adding more bouldering outside (basically directly behind the current wall, doubling the size of the bouldering) and replacing the freestanding tower with a moon board.
