So what are everyones views on what exactly makes a performance enhancing drug??

what is the difference between taking say steroids and drinking lucozade??? surely both are performance enhancing??

where and how do you draw a line?? also does anyone think that competition climbing should introduce drugs testing????

i think its usually only a something classified as a drug or something that reachts in your blood stream but that would make anything sugar based illegal.sure there must be a web site somewhere

best look on the Wada website and download the wada code (44page pdf)

www.wada-ama.org/en/dynamic.ch2?pageCategory.id=250

but one of the big problems is that so long as you get an medical exemption certificate you can legally abuse at olympic leval

Testing first took place at a Climbing World Cup in May 1989 at the 1st ever WC. The last anti-doping tests tookplace 2 weeks ago at the EYC in Kranj. So comp climbing has always had anti-doping testing.

Sharma once tested positive for cannabis and was disqualified from a comp because of it. Not that's it's performance enhancing, just that it's illegal

So testing does happen.

Is alcohol performance enhancing? For Bill Werbinek (sp) the snooker player it was, he couldn't play without it. So could cannabis be performance enhancing? I think so. Other well known climbers might also agree.

Are you allowed to drive pissed or stoned? No. Do you think that you should be allowed to compete in sport 'under the influence'. I don't think so.

Sharma's disqualification had nothing to do with the legality of cannabis. It was because of the 2 issues above.

arguably yes. Helps dull some pain and can also calm nerves/relax muscles. Used to very popular with the Olympic shooters (guess there was an optimum point though before two targets became an issue).
