Hello.

I wonder does anyone know the name/s of the resin that climbing holds are made of and anyone who manufactures and sells the stuff?

Cheers
Tom

I believe they use polyester fibre glass resin (as for walls etc) with fillers (to their special recipe).
There should be lots of people along with more detail.

Although for home use wood is much easier and less messy.

I've made some in the past using polyester resin mixed with sand, a bit of cement and some colour pigment. Its pretty nasty stuff though and needs to be handled with care.

Not sure where we bought it from (was about 5 years ago), think it was some kind of industrial chemical supplier.

In reply to Queequeg: Danny French used to work from my ex-wife's (and my ex) Garage. He makes French Holds and holds for other companies too, in my opinion they are the best.
This covers most of them

if you have a chisle, file, sandpaper and patience lumps of hard wood work well
