Is there anyone who, like me, is infuriated by the commercialisation of Christmas and the way in which it seems to start earlier every year. I notice that the tv ads have a Christmas slant from the end of October/early November.

I've nothing against Christmas per se but I feel the commercialisation and secular aspect is now out of hand.

One ad I find particularly grating is the Argos one set to an American sounding jingle "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...." I've come pretty close to chucking a brick at the telly - It's about as bad as that "Crazy Frog" thing!

In reply to Benglog: The commercialisation gets up my nose and the religion is lost on me, but Christmas redeems itself with food and booze.

A certain DIY chain mocks up their Christmas displays round Eastertime and are currently finalising their Easter 08 displays.

I seem to recall you were one of the people who wants to get rid of the TV Licence, and have the BBC funded by advertising, too...

I suppose you do have a remote control with a mute button on it? Adverts are one of the best reasons for having a remote and a mute button. Just get in the habit of using them, and you can stay calm...

I think it hit an all time low when i saw advent callenders for sale in september. it's beyond a joke at times. people even buy the'r pets advent callenders now.
