Whats a fair way of testings my boots to find out if they are letting in water or not.
I feel water under high pressure would be an unfair test
I think using a watering can would be a fair test.

Reason why im doing the test is my feet became very damp after walking through a meadow of wet grass. Grass was not long enough to go over the top of the boots. Sweat is generated in the boot so its difficult to judge where the damp came from.

I would appreciate any comments on hows best to test

I reckon a washing up bowl is the thing.

Start it off with just a few mm (to check if its the soles) and slowly fill it up. You should be aboe to identify the level of the leak

If you're not going to wear them for a while, maybe you could do as above, but slowly fill up from inside? Might be a bit more easy to spot leaking water then. Just a thought.

In reply to DorsetGareth: I never thought of them leaking due to a failure in a seam or joint, I just hought it was the membrane failing. Will give the bowl of water test a go thanks.
