Just had a quick glance at 8a.nu's Global Ranking and noticed that Czech wonderkid Adam Ondra had a pretty impressive day at Schleier Wasserfall on 13th July. He climbed Kommunist (8b+), Try Again (8b), La pulce d'aqua (8a+), Chiquita (8a+), White Winds (8a+) and finally Beng (8a)!

Have you discovered Booze and birds yet?

If he answers yes then the rest of us should just give up!

I'd be interested to know what sets him apart.

- I don't mean on a results basis, but physiologically.

Does he have very strong tendons and finger strength. If so, where did that finger strength come from (i.e. naturally, or does he train harder or what)
Or does he have super human balance and grasp of movement.
etc (I am just guessing at the answers.)

Apologies if this is already generally known

Is he the real Harry Potter?

In reply to Mick Ryan - UKClimbing.com:

I'd like you to ask him "What is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?"

The only things I'd like to know if trad climbing has ever appealled to him, and if not why so?Perhaps because of the strict ethics and ballsy nature of trad climbing in some areas of the czech republic, with long bolt runouts and knotted rope for protection?

And also, do first ascents motivate him at all?

Cheers,

John

What's the secret to his success?

Has he got plans to dabble in trad or stuff in the greater ranges, e.g. trying Valley Ice and an Rjukan trip?

What advice he would give to other young cimbers - e.g. concentrate on indoor or outdoors, power or technique?

What's the best way for a competition climber to succeed on rock too, or how can they be encouraged to step outside?

If his national sports body and/or mountaineering council hadn't supported him would he be half as good, and what should similar bodies in certain other countries be doing with their young?

Them for starters, but get Jack to ask him everything Mick - what's his favourite colour, starsign, what bands he likes, favourite food....

Oh yeah actually as a fellow speccy wearer I'd like to know:

Does the world's hardest bespectacled climber find his glasses ever get in the way, does he plan to continue looking fly wearing them and climbing hard, or may he experiment with contacts and laser eye surgey?

African or European?

In reply to Mick Ryan - UKClimbing.com:

Did or does he spend his time mostly doing a lot of hard routes quickly just below his limit (mid/low 8s?), or getting well stuck into the 9s.

And tell him good luck with Punt X.

Most of these questions have already been answered in previous interviews.
