Is anyone doing the omm this year? How is your training going? Just looking for some motivation....
 lummox 29 Sep 2008
In reply to Heike: If by training you mean the usual stumbling around in the muck pitifully slowly, then it`s going as well as past years thanks : )
OP Heike 29 Sep 2008
In reply to lummox:
LOL

Right, yeah, same here...!
OP Heike 29 Sep 2008
In reply to lummox:
Well, you have got another four weeks to brush up on the muckplodding....

In reply to Heike:

joking right ? training ? if i've recovered form my injuries enough
i might get go for a walk ...
OP Heike 29 Sep 2008
In reply to lithos:
Oh, dear sorry to hear that. Hope you will be walking about soon.

 lithos 29 Sep 2008
In reply to Heike:

no i am not seriously injured i meant rather facetiously that
i might go for a walk as training, ankle is pretty good these days as
long as i don't hyper-extend it - still i need some good excuses
OP Heike 29 Sep 2008
In reply to lithos:
Surely, one walk is enough as OMM training, you wouldn't want to overdo it!

 lithos 29 Sep 2008
In reply to Heike:

exactly ! what course you doing, we are Med Score (mid table mediocrity)
OP Heike 29 Sep 2008
In reply to lithos:
Don't laugh, please, Elite.

OP Heike 29 Sep 2008
In reply to lithos:
Spare a thought when you will be settling down in your warm and dry sleeping bag, I'll still be out there wading through the bog!
OP Heike 29 Sep 2008
In reply to Heike:
So, is there noone else doing the OMM and has any nuggets of training wisdom to share? Maybe impress or shame me with my lack of training? I am trying to get out as much as possible, but it is hard to be disciplined, particularly when the weather is dry and climbing is soooo much more appealing!
 lithos 29 Sep 2008
In reply to Heike:

hardcore !!! respect for even entering, you'll still finish before us

In reply to Heike:

Stop being such a wuss - get out training... NOW!

Me? I'm also doing med score (again)
iain roberto 29 Sep 2008
In reply to Heike: Medium score again for us. Done plenty this year in preparation for a Bob Graham round. Will be doing a 32 miler this coming weekend and then two weeks in Cham running up and down "hills", on top of 6 months of 50-60 mile weeks.
OP Heike 29 Sep 2008
In reply to Tony the Blade:
Thank you, that's just what I need - a good virtual kick in the bottom.

Good luck wit the med score!
OP Heike 29 Sep 2008
In reply to iain roberto:
Wow. Sounds like you are on top if it - altitude training as well
OP Heike 29 Sep 2008
In reply to lithos:
I doubt it, you have a limited time on the med score, whilst we have to make it before 8pm! I think we stumbled into the campsite at about 6.30 last year ( it was getting very dark...)

iain roberto 29 Sep 2008
In reply to Heike:
I'll be carrying a crate of beer as it's my birthday on the saturday so that'll slow me down. Our tent will have the balloons attached.

You've still got 4 weeks to go, so plenty of time.
OP Heike 29 Sep 2008
In reply to iain roberto:
what - a crate of beer? Is that a 4pack, six pack or a German style crate of beer (that's 20 bottles) I'll be looking out for the balloons - a beer would be sooo nice in the evening.

I used to take a miniature plastic bottle of wkisky, but I even gave up on that last year when I entered the E for 1st time, I reckoned I could do with saving every grammes I could think of!

In reply to Heike: any forum members had a partner drop out and got a spare place on Med score/C class/B class? email me if you're looking to replace. I missed registration in July.
