It seems that Abdelbaset al-Megrahi is still protesting his innocence, and has published documents online relating to his dropped appeal:

His site, with the documents:

Looks like this isn't going away as quietly as some might have hoped.

In reply to skog: In the meantime Libyan police and security forces are being trained by their British counterparts.

Well, if he didn't do it, then why shouldn't he protest his innocence?

Or are you suggesting that certain people just want it to be taken as read that he was the sole guilty party, and the case is closed, and forgotten, and he should not be stirring things up?

Quite.

He's pretty clearly the fall guy. That doesn't mean he's innocent - his involvement could have been anything from the main guilty party (unlikely, I think) through to transporting a case he didn't know the contents of, through to no involvement (perhaps not very likely either).
About the only things that are clear are that there's a lot to it that we don't know, and quite a few people that don't want us to know it all, for whatever reasons.

It's interesting that he's still protesting his innocence when he's already out anyway, though I grant that could be down to pressure from the regime in Libya.
