25 years after its first winter ascent by Brian Davison, Moss Ghyll Grooves on Scafell has received it's second ascent from Steve Ashworth and Paddy Cave, who shared leads.
In reply to UKC News: I thought Woody had done a winter ascent of this about 6 years ago with the Boy Kells in tow ? Before Steve Ashworth was even born !!
Any how a good effort lads and hats off to Ed
In reply to 220bpm: last week stood looking at it thinking at grade 5 (guidebook) i might give it a shot as it looked okay didn't realise it hadn't been repeated ! i might have took a whooping that day !!

It feels like a long time since I bumped into Brian and Richard at the base of the crag, my partner having failed to hitch over from Leeds in time. He turned up about an hour too late and missed the first ascent of a classic outing.
