If you are in or near the Peak (s) this weekend this maybe of interest.

If you haven't seen this film you must, I order it! It's not on DVD.

First Ascent - Alone On The Wall - Climbing - 24 Minutes

Alex Honnold recently won the American Alpine Club's Bates award for outstanding accomplishments by a young climber. This short film focuses on what are arguably two of the most audacious climbs in the history of the sport - his free solos of Moonlight Buttress in Zion and the Regular Route on Half Dome in Yosemite. Palm-sweating footage is mixed with thoughtful clips of his friends and family as a portrait of the man-of-the-moment is put together in this series commissioned by Sender Films for National Geographic. It's all about impressing girls!

In reply to Mick Ryan - UKClimbing.com: It's a great film although I felt a bit uncomfortable watching it, because he seems to have repeated the solos for the camera, and hence for my vicarious pleasure, and that seemed a bit suspect.

If you are going to go and watch it, don't watch Mick's preview because it shows the scary crux section!

In reply to TobyA:

It's not a spoiler, that's just one small part. The Half Dome section is epic.

Does anyone know if this film will be released on dvd/download?

In reply to Lizard:

Think its gonna be on TV in the states as part of a series that will then be released on DVD as a set. National Geographic are showing it.

In reply to Mick Ryan - UKClimbing.com:

Saw this in Bishop earlier in the month as part of the Banff Mountain Film Festival tour. It is excellent, real sweaty palms stuff to watch, particularly the Half Dome ascent. Very much recommended.
In reply to TobyA:

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's not sure about this stuff. People who make money or fame out of soloing have a nasty habit of ending up dead.

In reply to Lizard:
Sender Films is releasing it in September. The Honnold episode made me cringe a lot.
