Hey Guys,

Anybody put their own holds into brick and would be willing to share the method and products used?

My Parents have just said that I can stop hanging off the basketball hoop and stick some holds up the side of the house!

Any experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Craig

In reply to CLetham: You can make a frame from strips of wood securely attach the wood to the wall and put sheets of marine ply on the frame and attach the holds to that. If you drill lots of holes in the plywood you can move the holds around. If you treat the wood and ply wood it should last a long time.

In reply to marsbar: Thats sounds like a better idea than what a quick google pulled up! I had visions of having to pur individual threads for each hold into the wall!

Thanks

In reply to marsbar: I have emailed you but you need to send me one so I can send you the picture, as they say a picture tells a 1000 words, much easier than trying to explain.

Expansion sockets straight into the brick.

My parents won't let me make 12mm holes in my wall

Thanks for all your responses, the beacon website seems to be the best bet for any one else interested.

Thanks Again

In reply to CLetham: Also have you considered what you are having on the ground below, something soft or loose would be a good idea, you don't want to hurt yourself if you do land awkwardly.

You don't want to use expansion bolts, because the length of the bolt coming out the back of the hold varies. If there isn't enough the bolt won't expand enough, so it can pull out the wall.

You're better of using resin in anchors, they're miles better and alot cheaper.

Use the 80mm ones...

You'll need the right resin for the type of brick/stone wall

Rawplug do a version too.

But you are better off building a wooden wall, that way you're not peppering the wall with loads of holes, so your folks won't moan as much.

Show them this and tell them you want to build one in your room.

In reply to CLetham:

Find out what sort of bricks you have - most aren't completely solid! Get your fixings to suit the brick type, unless you go down the "face-mounted straps and boards" route.

In reply to zoobizooretta: Thats awesome! Unfortunately that board would be my whole room!
