Surely for a Mark Twight wannabe like me there is only one option:

youtube.com/watch?v=6V73JJf2nYc&

Or Maybe either of these:

In reply to Paul Doran: If my winter climbing sounds like that this year i'll not bother getting out of bed!!

In reply to Paul Doran: The track that always seeps thru' is
Rust never sleeps -Neil Young.
 George Ormerod 06 Oct 2010
In reply to Paul Doran:

I was thinking of the Benny Hill tune, perhaps played at half speed. But then I don't take myself as seriously as Twight (though I do like his taste in music: http://www.gymjones.com/knowledge.php?id=19).

In reply to Paul Doran:

i like most i suspect i find that time in the mountains makes me feel so much more at one with myself and the earth, to be living a more natural existance, enjoying my mortality.

i find that this song does that too, and more than onc i've found myself humming it on belay

youtube.com/watch?v=1qxSwJC3Ly0&

also REM - every body hurts sometimes
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijZRCIrTgQc&feature=fvst

i cam be singing the phrases " hold on hold on" " dont let go", "everybody hurts sometimes" "sometimes everything is wrong" "when you think of lettign go" " hang on" " when you feel like your alone" " when your on your own in this life"

all so apt at certain moments on any winter route

"Get me away from here I'm dying" by Belle and Sebastian tends to be what keeps running through my head!

In reply to Paul Doran:

Top gun soundtrack for the start of the car journey.

Anything out of the Metallica or Iron Maiden back catalogues.

And a healthy dollop of classic Prodigy.
OP Juglan 06 Oct 2010
Does Jilted Generation count as classic prodigy?

In reply to Paul Doran:

Singing in the Rain. I was humming said tune to myself on the traverse on Tower Ridge, stuck behind a guided party a winter or so ago. Said guided party later thanked me for helping him put things in perspective - him gripped out of his mind and me idling kicking a bigger step and humming.

The album? Then yes, It was before they got a bit pish.

Human by The Killers can seem very apt at times.
 LakesWinter 06 Oct 2010
In reply to timjones: I agree, only because it was playing lots on the radio one trip, but normally I end up with the most stupid songs in my head, nursery rhymes and the like, probably my mind is trying to avoid the pain and suffering subconsciously or something like that.

In reply to Paul Doran:

While driving North once we were talking about how sometimes you can't get songs out of your head. Fast forward to the next morning as we're stumbing about in some car park and my partner shouts 'And today's song is... Brown girls in the ring!' Now, very annoyingly, I find myself 'traalalaalalaa ing on many a walk in.

Brown Girl in the Ring - Boney M

Me and my partner would sing or whistle this to lighten the mood every time things looked like they were going bad.

10 points if you know why.
