I am running a 3-day training course, 10/11 March through Bolton College.
It will be an adult group.
The probable venue will be River Severn, with an overnight camp.
It is aimed at those wanting an intro to moving water/ journeying & training/ assessment for 3* can be undertaken.

Would a person experienced in relaxing in a canoe or kayak down a slow moving river be able to take part in this to build up experience?

The course is aimed at those with some experience (2 star standard).
Depending on who comes along to help, we could very probably cater for beginners.
