Whilst skiing in the Vosges this afternoon, I saw a strange rainbow. It was a perfect arc, but of cloud, not of light, having none of the traditional rainbow colours. Later there was another one in another position a few hundred metres away.

What's all that about then?

If it helps, there was fog/cloud just a bit lower down the slopes and a lovely blue sky above.

I saw a moonbow earlier this year which was spooky as hell. Could yours have been a fog bow?

Good, but it was a bit puffier that those pictures, like they were real clouds.

Definitely one of the more ridiculous things I've seen on youtube.

In reply to Bingers: I've seen that on a couple of occasions in Scotland in similar weather conditions to you. Impressed me so much I thought I'd coin a new word for it - cloudbow. Only thing is I'd been beaten to it. Check it out on Google. I'll see if I can upload a photo though from memory it didn't come out that well. Probably only interest the two of us.

In reply to Bingers: There's one photo up, just waiting on the second one to be approved. Unfortunately no photos of the other time I saw a cloudbow.

Thanks Jim, that is pretty much what I saw. Seeing them at all seems quite rare, so I must have been lucky to have seen two on the same day.
