MSR XGK EX and Meths

Hi

Can anyone tell me if the MSR XGK EX will burn Meths ? I suppose if it does, maybe the soot build up will be greater than if using Petrol, maybe i've just answered the question

No, it burns hydrocarbons (white gas, diesel, kerosene, etc). Meths is alcohol and has very different physical and burning properties.

In reply to lone: I used it when i had nothing else. It does work, but its very volatile and temperamental. It burns clean, but it's hard work to keep a consistent heat.

In reply to lone: Ive heard of people using a drop or two of meths to prime Msr Stoves before turning on the petrol. It prevents soot build up as they burn cleanly.
