Quite a few years ago someone made the following comments re Yellow Slab on Scafell East Buttress:

'sparse protection on the last pitch .... Not to mention the loose block which will kill someone shortly.'

Are they still accurate?

it seems reasonable. No idea about the block though.

You would expect sparse protection on a climb graded HVS 4c.

In reply to helix: I did it a few years ago and there was a scary loose block to negotiate. It could take out you, your belayer and a party or two in Ichabod. That would be worth watching.

Hi

I did this route last summer and the last pitch does have a big hollow block on it but it has been there for a very long time! The pitch is sparsely protected but technically pretty easy. I would not let these factors put you off as it is a magnificent line. The meat of the climbing is lower on the route.

All the best

I did this route two weekends ago and the block is still there but not in iminent danger of going anywhere, I pulled on it but thought twice about placing a runner behind it
