peak midges - no less spiteful than their northern cousins?

spent the weekend climbing at the roaches and camping at the farm nearby. lovely evening apart from the constant nipping at my calves/ankles/fingers/arms. I didn't think midges were much of a problem outside of Scotland, but I think I've revised that view after this weekend.

I was there too - but the midges were nowhere near as bad as their Scottish cousins! Bigger midges in the Peak, but far less of them, and you didn't have to walk around in circles constantly while eating your food to try to escape them. Scottish midges are definitely the worst!

rubbish july and august very normal in low wind conditions to get chased off the grit crags.

The most dense mass of midgies I have ever seen was at burbage north and I've lived in scotland 6 years. When they want to they can be every bit as bad or worse in the peak!
