Off up to the lakes this weekend and was wondering if anyone had been up on Scafell? Would like to do Saxon and Ichabod, with the recent weather we've been having do people think/ know they will be dry?
Depends how much breeze there's been and whether Scafell has been clear. The first 10m or so of Saxon can remain greasy and the start of the crux crack is probably the last bit to dry. There's a persistent seep on the slim corner on Ichabod that can be a stopper.
However I think your chances of either are pretty good providing the frontal system currently out west doesn't descend on to the fells.
In reply to conorcussell:
We were thinking of heading up there. But latest forecasts suggest rain on Saturday afternoon, and more rain/clag all day Sunday. Fingers crossed they've got it wrong...
In reply to Toreador: What forecast are you using? I'm going to be in the Lakes next week and Met Office mountain forecast currently suggests that Sunday might be okay.
In reply to Oujmik:
"On Saturday and into Sunday a slow moving belt of wet weather is likely to edge southeastwards eventually to lie somewhere between southern Scotland and Snowdonia to the Peak District."
In reply to conorcussell: We were on Bowfell yesterday (Friday) managed Air on a Bowstring but lots of wet streaks and very wet ledges about. Flat Crags looked very wet. I suspect Scafell will be similar but may be OK by Sunday if this 'Damoclean' front over Scotland dosen't drop any lower.
