Does anybody know the dates(ish) and events and people involved in the fatal accident on the Great Flake Central Buttress Scafell when the route changed for ever? Trying to find out more for research purposes.

I understand your interest, but, in order not to re-open old wounds for relatives of the deceased, if I were you I would probably contact the Wasdale MRT, and take it from there, depending on what they say. I'm sure they will have a far better understanding of the whole situation than any of us on here, having had to deal with the situation and the family.

Ta ...it is within the context you suspect and is a challenging call that I cant easily avoid. it may end up as 1 line or 100 and will be down to a winters worth of work and I will know the destination from the signposts.
