I'm planning to go to the Central Highlands next week (24-29 Feb) to log a few winter mountain days but there seems to be a thaw establishing over the Highlands.

I would appreciate any info on current winter conditions if you are local to the area. I'm going mad here in Bristol tracking the never-ending snow-melt-snow-melt showing on webcams and I need to make a decision as to whether to go or not within the next 48hours.

It's not very good right now mate, and no real prospect of an improvement tbh....

Good bit of snow high up on the Macdui plateau, Braeriach etc, and high up out West, but it's diminishing rapidly.

Climbing is pretty thin to say the least.

We had some good winter walks on our Cairngorms trip last week, and got some low-grade climbs in, that were high in the grade as a consequence and therefore fun, but as I said, it's getting thinner.

Good advice above to check the guys' sites, as they are out more than us punters, but it's not good imo.

No worries mate. I am in the same boat going up to Scotland Sat-Mon. Will take a view Friday to see if its worth it and whats left.........

Thanks for your replies; we've cancelled the trip and will be heading to the Pyrenees next month. Planing a trip to Scotland from down here in Bristol is always going to be a gamble...

Doesn't look good does it? I can't cancel mine, it's a booked course.
Ah well you never know what can happen in a week for the UK weather.
