Easiest way is to separate them using data - text to columns. I don't like having mixed columns so this would be my preference.
Depends on how the units are set. If it's done with formatting then they are just numbers anyway and the units are just part of the cell format so you can just use them.
If the units are actually in the cells as text then you should be able to get rid of them by selecting the cells and using "find and replace". e.g. replace "mm" with nothing.
What I actually did is copy and paste the columns into igor pro and the units/text were not carried over hoorah
